Morning Report
Evidenced based discussion of the case-based presentation, differential diagnoses and keys to inpatients by residents and senior faculty occurs Tuesday through Friday at 8:15 in MA406B. During July morning report is part of the Intern Survival series. Topics covered include ambulatory care, medicine consult service, radiology, dermatology, subspecialty week. One Friday per month morning report is devoted to resident issues. Each Tuesday morning at 8:00 Pre-morning Report reviews hematology with clinical correlation and is conducted by senior hematology/medical oncology senior faculty.-
Journal Club
Held at noon two Mondays each month, this conference series includes a mini-course in evidence-based medicine. Each month Classic journal club comprises the remainder of the conference series. Journal articles are presented by senior residents and is followed by discussion facilitated by a faculty member. -
Ambulatory Care Conference
Held monthly, this morning conference is facilitated by a medicine faculty physician and attended by all internal medicine residents. This case-based conference focuses on improving resident's timely and efficient clinical decision-making in the ambulatory setting by discussing common outpatient problems in the context of a real case. -
Radiology Conference
This monthly morning conference facilitated by the Chairman of Radiology is attended by the internal medicine and radiology residents. In this conference imaging studies of a variety of cases are presented, interpreted and discussed. This interdisciplinary conference allows residents to learn from faculty in other specialties and develops their ability to communicate across specialty areas. -
Med/Peds Conference
Held monthly, facilitated by a medicine or pediatric attending physician and attended by all internal medicine and pediatric residents focuses on a real patient case that straddles the line between childhood and adult medicine. -
Clinic Conference
pertinent to the outpatient setting. Residents are signed topics from a master list in consultation with the chief resident. Residents may request topics be added to the "master list" through the Chief Resident. -
Grand Rounds
Grand Rounds are a departmental conference held each Thursday at noon. This conference is designed to broaden the knowledge and enhance the clinical skills of practitioners, to present current clinical information and research that may be applied to patient care and to assist practitioners in developing life long learning skills. Grand Rounds is a required conference for residents. We offer CME credit and constantly review our feedback to improve the quality of this venue.

Morbidity and Mortality
This multidisciplinary conference held at noon on Tuesdays twice monthly is attended by residents and faculty members of internal medicine, pathology, radiology and often includes physicians from other specialties. The format includes case based presentations by a resident with open discussion let by a faculty facilitator. This conference allows residents to refine their clinical diagnosis skills and provide the opportunity for faculty, residents and fellows to take an active role in quality improvement. We offer CME credit and constantly review our feedback to improve the quality of this conference.

Oncology Multi-Disciplinary Grand Rounds
This monthly conference is held every Monday and is targeted to the whole medical school and related campus departments. The content is chosen by the Ellis Fischel Education Subcommittee which has members from various departments on campus, and covers all areas of cancer epidemiology, prevention, diagnosis, screening, treatment, and basic science. The material is meant to be innovative, relevant, and interesting to scientists and clinicians alike. The material is taught or shared at a level that is appropriate to a broad audience of students, trainees, clinicians, scientists, and allied professionals. We offer CME credit and constantly review our feedback to improve the quality of this venue. -
Core Curriculum
The core curriculum series is a two-year series covering a broad base of medicine and non-medicine topics including clinical, research and administrative/professional areas. Other departments contribute knowledge and skills needed to practice general internal medicine. This is a popular conference often attended by residents of other specialties that may take a variety of formats depending upon the faculty presenter.
