Speak with a Nurse Clinician:
If you have questions and need to speak with one of our GI Nurse Clinicians, please call (573)882-4272 or (573)882-5621. Nurse clinicians are available Monday-Friday from 8:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. CST.
Clinic Referrals and Appointments:
Clinic referrals and appointments to the Digestive Health Center can be made by calling (573)884-7600, option 1. Phones are answered Monday–Friday every day from 8:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. CST
Prescription Refills:
Patients should ask for prescription refills at the time of their clinic appointments. However, if a patient runs out of a medication before their next scheduled appointment, he/she may call the Medicine Specialty Clinics Refill Line at (573)884-2447.
Endoscopy Services at University Hospital, Columbia Regional Hospital, and the Digestive Health Center at Fairview:
Scheduling “open-access” procedures: Gastroenterologists have operated an open-access endoscopy service at University Hospital since 1990. This service allows non-gastroenterologist physicians the ability to schedule common outpatient procedures on patients. Such procedures can be scheduled by calling (573)882-1434, selecting option 1 or toll-free at (phone) 1-866-442-8685, (fax) 1-866-442-8686.
Procedures offered “open-access” include:
- EGD
- Colonoscopy
- Esophageal manometry
- Esophageal pH Study
Scheduling advanced procedures:
Physicians wanting to schedule advanced procedures should call Mary Kramer, RN or Angie Burrus, RN in the Endoscopy Center at (573)882-1434. Advanced procedures include:
- ERCP
- Endoscopic ultrasound
- 48-Hour Bravo Esophageal pH Test
- Percutaneous endoscopic gastrostomy
- Capsule endoscopy studies
VA Hospital Clinical and Endoscopic Services:

Gastroenterologist on-call:
To speak to the gastroenterologist on-call, call the University Hospital Operator at (573) 882-4141, and have the gastroenterology fellow on-call paged. The fellow is available during nighttime hours, on weekends, and on holidays.
