Fellowship Program
In spite of significant advances in treatment, cancer remains the second leading cause of death in the United States. Training in oncology and hematology is therefore essential to medical students, as well as house staff in many disciplines. As one of the few academic medical centers with a free-standing cancer hospital, we also have the opportunity to further the education of students, housestaff, and fellows in an environment dedicated to the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of cancer. The fellowship program is an essential part of the Cancer Center and the Health Sciences Center.
The training program exposes fellows to outpatient care, consultation, as well as inpatient care of patients with cancer and blood disorders. Fellows also rotate on the Bone Marrow Transplant Unit at Barnes Jewish Hospital in St. Louis. Fellows at Ellis Fischel Cancer Center are able to observe patients with a wide variety of neoplastic and hematologic diseases, and have the opportunity to participate in an active clinical research program. Interested fellows may also pursue basic science research.

We will be accepting applications though Eras beginning December 1, 2007, ending December 31, 2007 for the 2009 academic year. Any applications or components of an application (including letters of recommendation, transcripts, test scores, etc) received after December 31, 2007 will not be considered. Completion of a three year US residency and three letters of recommendation are required. We will sponsor J1 and H1B visas. We also participate in the Match.
