Since its early days, the Department of Internal Medicine has been committed to developing leaders in clinical research, medical education and patient care. Our faculty and staff is dedicated to providing the best education to the next generation of Internal Medicine generalists and subspecialists, and is committed to providing our trainees a learning experience that instills pride and lifelong devotion to the University of Missouri Columbia.
Columbia is located in the center of Missouri and features big city flavor with a small town feel. The city offers something for everyone; from theatres, galleries, concert halls, and abundant night life to sporting events, hiking, and biking on the famous Katy Trail. The city - its metro area totals 143,800 residents - has the lowest unemployment rate in the country. The price of an average home puts Columbia in the most affordable 15% of all cities, and its costs of living places it in the top 20%.
A sound economic base, low unemployment, quality educational opportunities and the low cost of living make Columbia an attractive home town. For the past century, students have come to Columbia looking for an education and ended up calling it “home for life”!
